(BBC World/Economist):
110 members of the lower chamber in the Belarusian Parliament are to be elected
for a four-year term on Sunday 23 September. But as Belarus takes to the polls,
little is expected to change in the nation described as Europe's last dictatorship.
Main opposition parties United Civic Party and Belarusian Popular Front, have
pulled out from this year's election in a so-called 'controlled boycot'. Since
2004, no member of the opposition have been represented in the Belarusian
Parliament.
