(CNN) The United States government on Tuesday took
steps to boost opposition forces attempting to oust Libyan President Moammar
Gadhafi by freezing the assets of that country's foreign minister and
identifying 16 companies operating in the U.S. that are owned or controlled by
the regime.
The White House said Tuesday it also looking for ways
to use some of the $32 billion in assets frozen by U.S. sanctions to aid Libyan
anti-government groups.
