Catastrophic fires are burning significant part of the Greek forests in several parts throughout the country during the last days. Only yesterday (Sunday 26 August), 200 new fires were reported. Today the death toll has reached the number of 64, while thousands of people have been forced to abandon their houses.

Greece today is in a state of emergency and all political parties have decided to postpone all their political party events for the time being.

Due to this force majeur, the Greek organizers regret having to cancel the planned IWDU event in Athens, on Saturday September 1st / Sunday September 2nd 2007.
